Lenticular Lenses

When most people think of a hologram, they're probably thinking of what's called a lenticular lens print. Lenticular lenses can be used to create the illusion of depth and are the technology that makes possible 3D Game Boys and TV's that don't require special eye glasses.

Lenticular lenses work by sending a different image into each of the viewers eyes to produce the illusion of depth. They work by sending only a single image when viewed from the same angle. When turned sideways, they can be used to create the appearance of motion as they're rotated. As Visnup demonstrates in this vine video, the rotation changes the viewing angle which in turn produces a different image.
